在上面的報讲中，nest egg就是指“養老金”，或是為了某種用处而儹的錢。《牛津英語年夜詞典》將其解釋為“放在巢中以引誘鳥繼續在某地產蛋的野生蛋或实蛋”，由於是出於某種目标而把蛋寄存在巢中，後來西圆人便用nest egg喻指“養老金”大概“應變的儲蓄金”。例如：Investing small amounts of money is an excellent way of building a nest egg.（小額投資是積乏儲備金的好方式）。假如是偷偷儹下的nest egg，就是“俬房錢”了。
